ABOUT US
Based in Springfield, Illinois, PVA is a rapidly growing and competitive volleyball club serving athletes ages 8–18 across the Midwest. Our mission is to develop players who can not only compete regionally but also aspire to reach the national level.

We offer a range of opportunities including camps, clinics, and regional level exposure—all while keeping costs affordable and competitive.

While our primary focus is on training young women, we proudly offer development programs for male athletes as well.
Our home is located at Concordia Lutheran Church and School, 2300 E Wilshire Rd, Springfield, IL.

How it started
In 2022, six years after the retirement of Jim Dietz—now head volleyball coach for the Peacocks at Upper Iowa University—and Joe Reuben—currently coaching and officiating in Washington state, as well as serving as a volleyball coach for the Maccabi Games—the difficult decision was made to close Capital Area Volleyball Club. By the time it closed, it had served the Springfield area for nearly 20 years, helping to shape countless athletes while providing a safe, inclusive space for youth development.

Then, one evening in 2023, Brittany Stewart, Brooksana McKinney, and Amber Stephens met for dinner. Amber came with exciting news: a new facility had been secured—safe, clean, and eager to welcome a rising volleyball program. That dinner buzzed with ideas, excitement, energy and possibility. And so, in a booth at Costelloe's Restaurant, Phoenix Volleyball Academy was born—rising from the ashes of the past with a new vision and a renewed commitment to community, development, and competitive excellence. Why PVA
At PVA, we take pride in being a strong competitive club rooted in strong family values. We are committed to helping each athlete grow as an individual and as a teammate. Our program is built on core principles that emphasize player autonomy, confidence, skill development, and a positive, supportive environment.
We are committed to continual growth—not only in our understanding and coaching of the game itself, but also in the areas that support the overall well-being of our athletes. Our staff actively seeks opportunities to expand their knowledge in confidence-building techniques, mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and athlete empowerment. We believe that true success in volleyball goes beyond physical skill; it includes fostering strong minds, positive self-image, and supportive team dynamics. By staying informed and evolving with the needs of today’s athletes, we strive to create an environment where every player can thrive both on and off the court.
